entirely true, but exaggerated for comic effect
you quit the ad network and look what happens

I’m no longer carrying ads here at Friday Playdate, and while I am happy to share my decision making process and tell you why I decided to do that, I am completely unable to do so right now, because this has left me speechless. With laughter.

oh that is really kind of scary

I hadn’t seen this particular promo (which honestly, makes me really happy because I love BlogHer and I really enjoy writing for them and I have a lot to say about taking care of your skin, apparently) so I am indebted to the good people of the Internet for the heads up (haha, get it? HEADS UP! I am so funny, especially for someone without a body).

A big thank you to the various people who emailed me about this, and to everyone who Twittered it. And to Metalia, who sent me the screen shot, which I opened in the grocery line while I was trying to convince the kids that I would NOT buy them gum no matter how many times they announced, “You know we love gum!”

Also my apologies to everyone who was startled into choking on your coffee when my disembodied head showed up in your sidebar. Hello! Put some damn sunscreen on already.

Or I will haunt your dreams … (Oh wait it’s too late, isn’t it? Well, put the sunscreen on anyway.)

Why that’s simply the prettiest disembodied head floating in the center of a stock sunburst illustration that I’ve seen all week. Maybe even all month!

Awwww! Now everytime I stare at the sun and get little swimmy blurry things in my vision, I’ll think of YOU!

I didn’t see this, but ALL HAIL METALIA.

Seeing this ad show up in my sidebar was, like, the best thing that happened to me yesterday. DISEMBODIED FLOATING SUSAN HEAD! I love it.

That is hilarious!

I want to know why you’re not carrying ads! Not that I’m not interested in the disembodied Susan.

I saw that yesterday and thought No, that CAN’T be her, because last time I knew she was fine and well (and with legs and a body!) and not pretending to be the SUN.

Then I read your name and thought ‘She can’t know about this ad, because that’s too STRANGE.’

Hmmm, I wonder why I instantly thought of the Teletubbies?

You look so sunny!!

Aw, THANK YOU for the big merry laugh on this rainy dreary foggy day in southern Minnesota! Susan, hilarious. Also cute.

Oh, and p.s. YES ABOUT THE TELETUBBIES! My 2-year-old is in LOVE with the baby head that appears in the sun every now and then during that show, and squeals, “Baby Sunshine!” every time. She would love this.

Hahaaaa! But seriously. I need a good self-tanner, so I will happily take your advice. :)

I’m still laughing, just FYI.

I did see that ad on someone else’s blog and wondered why you were floating around on the internet. I thought you were stalking me for reading other blogs. You are my favorite, honest!

Please share why you don’t have ads anymore. I’m curious.

I’ve been cracking up since I saw it. Love it. Who doesn’t want to be a sunny head?

I thought of the Teletubbies, too! It’s a strange and wonderful ad!

I saw this ad some days ago on a blog I just happened to cruise into via lots of link clicking and it left me speechless - then I giggled.

Nice to see you Susan. :)
