First things first: the winner of the first Lean Beef Personality Pack is Julie, who said, “We’re filets at our house.” Mmm filet.
What did Julie win? Well let’s see! First there’s the $100 Visa gift card, which she can use to pick up some filets (see how I did that? genius) and also some potatoes because nothing is more delicious than a filet and a baked potato smothered in sour cream and chives. Am I right?
I am right.
But there’s more! Oh yes there is. Julie will also be getting a super cool apron and an insulated tote bag. We all know how useful an apron can be, but that tote is awesome; I have one and you would be surprised how much I use it. It keeps things warm or cold, and you can wipe it out with a damp cloth.
Congratulations, Julie!
I have one more Lean Beef Personality Pack to give out; this time I want you to help me out a bit, please. I took the same quiz you all did and my results were, of course, T bone steak — and top sirloin. So for dinner this weekend I’m going to cook top sirloin! But here’s the fun part: YOU get to pick the recipe. Skip on over to Beef: It’s What’s For Dinner and check out the sirloin recipes — then leave me a comment with your two cents worth about which one I should try. I’ll pick a comment at random on Sunday morning, before I go to the grocery; Monday I’ll report back about dinner and announce the winner.
Thanks to the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and Edelman Digital for providing the prizes for this giveaway, and for picking up the tab for my groceries.

I believe that if two things are meant to go together, they’re steak and potatoes. If three things are meant to go together, they’re steak, potatoes, and garlic. So of course I think you should try the Crumb-Crusted Top Sirloin and Roasted Garlic Potatoes.
It sounds delicious — I only wish I hadn’t already planned for tonight’s meal!

Top Loin with Balsamic Grilled Vegetables. http://www.beefitswhatsfordinner.com/recipe.aspx?id=3339
Why? Because Balsamic vinegar makes everything better, and saying “kabob” is so much fun.

The Asian Filet has my tummy grumbling, try that one! New rule-no food-related blogs after 4pm.

I don’t think you can ever go wrong with red meat and blue cheese. My pick is Gorgonzola-Topped Beef Steaks.

I’m going to recommend the Top Loin Steaks with Grilled Balsamic Vegetables. I love to grill in the summer and grilled vegetables are the bomb.

Grilled Herb Mustard Steaks! I do love me a mustardy steak. yum!
By Kim on 07.29.10 4:29 pm | Permalink
I’d go with the Tangy Lime Grilled Top Sirloin because I am pregnant and everything I cook lately has lime in it - I think it’s to replace the “mommy” drinks that I am not allowed to have right now.
And I would have roasted red potatoes and throw some corn and zukes on the grill as well.

Beef top loin with grilled balsamic veggies. (And since it’s grilled, I think Wade should do the cooking!)

Is PETA going to sponsor a contest for those readers of your blog who don’t eat meat? Actually, given the responses to this ad on your blog, I might be the only one who reads FP who doesn’t eat cow.
Oh well…

Many of those sound really good! I am always a fan of blue cheese though so the Steak with Mushroom, Blue Cheese and Frizzled Shallots caught my eye. http://www.beefitswhatsfordinner.com/recipe.aspx?id=1509
Looking forward to finding out what you end up making!

A lot of them sound good, but the cumin rubbed steak and roasted root vegetable salad sounds like a great summer dish, and I love beets in a salad. The beet vinaigrette is intriguing.

How about grilled veggies, spinach salad with gorganzola cheese and apple slices, and a nice red wine! (with sirloin or T-bone!)

I think balsamic kabobs sound great. Plus they could be adapted for the vegetarians in the house. The carnivores and vegetarians could share the same meal pretty easily.

My son is on a bow-tie pasta kick right now so my eye went to Top Sirloin Filets with Spinach-Lemon Pesto Pasta. I won’t have a chance to make it next week but as soon as I get back from NY, it’s going in mah belleh.

I vote for Grilled Peppery Top Round Steak with Parmesan Asparagus. http://www.beefitswhatsfordinner.com/recipe.aspx?id=1859 Probably because I have two bags of asparagus in my frig right now and I, personally, need to cook this tonight.

Great. Now I’m hungry and it’s only 10:30 in the morning.
Probably not what the kids will want, but the Gorgonzola-Topped Beef Steaks, sounded good to me. What’s not to like about steak with cheese on top?
By Rachel on 07.30.10 10:33 am | Permalink
Crumb-crusted top sirloin, for sure! I think I’ll make it myself this weekend!
By Jennifer Joyner on 07.30.10 11:13 am | Permalink
I vote for the Top Sirloin with Spinach Lemon Pesto Pasta. Sounds summery, and I love recipes that mean I don’t need to fix any other sides. This one has spinach, tomatoes and almonds - healthy stuff! Also, lovely to look at, and your kids would probably like the pasta part (or at least mine would).
