entirely true, but exaggerated for comic effect
pretty things: Ariat cowboy boots

Western wear is back for Fall 2010, and while I’m not falling on myself to pick up a denim shirt or a plaid tunic, I’m totally into the idea of wearing my boots with my more Preppy pieces, like my J. Crew pencil skirts and my GAP dresses. I love the idea of mixing something more feminine (like a ruffly dress) with the more masculine boot.

I mentioned a while back that the nice people at Langston’s sent me a pair of Ariat boots; I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love them. The boots, I mean — although I really like the Langston’s people too. But I’m in love with the boots. They’re incredibly comfortable, and absolutely beautiful. I’ve tried them on with pretty much everything in my closet; you’d be surprised how versatile cowboy boots can be. Truly.

Western wear isn’t a look that I typically go for, but the secret to cowboy boots is this: you can wear them with anything. Even a little black dress.

And I also like the attitude that comes with pointy cowboy boots. Get out of my way, y’all, or I’ll kick your ass. Truly.

Like the boots? In a few weeks, I’ll be giving away a pair of Ariats! Thanks to Langston’s for making that happen. Stay tuned for details.

Aw, yeah! I love the cowgirl/preppy look. It’s so much more authentic down South too. I’m wearing mine with a dress for the first game of the Horns’ season on Saturday. Woo-hoo.

*Isn’t that ruffled Gap dress the best? I got the navy one and I love it! Great piece.

Oh I love them with the blue dress! (Also the black one) ;)

Not to be a Fashion Enabler, but get a denim shirt this year. You know you need one for fall. ;)

Love the boots! I definitely want a pair of cowboy boots (only appropriate in texas, no?) but haven’t bought any yet.

I love Ariat boots! I’ve owned two different pairs of their lacers (which I don’t even see on the site so maybe they don’t make them anymore) and they were seriously the most comfy boots I’ve ever owned.

I am not typically into western wear either, but I love the idea of boots. Ever since I went to Cloverleaf in OKC I’ve wanted a pair. Sigh…maybe I’ll win yours!

I LOVE them and cannot wait for the giveaway! I have always been interested in a pair of cowboy boots, to be worn just like you suggest—not with “cowgirl” clothes, but to punch up “normal” things.

Also I think this is cool b/c I just caved and bought myself the pair of boots I’ve been dying for all summer from the Title Nine catalog for this fall. They’re not cowboy boots, but they’re similar in height and rugged/versatile style. I happened upon a way to earn some freelance income, and I recently lost all the weight I was trying to lose, so I felt like I deserved the reward. :)

If this giveaway is only for US residents, I’m going to do a lot of jealous scowling.

I love boots in general, but cowboy boots aren’t my favorite variety. However, you’re quite right about the fact they really can be worn with anything. My husband - an artist, NOT a cowboy, and a Southern California native - hasn’t owned a pair of dress shoes since he was 15. It’s been only cowboy boots (and sneakers) for 30 years. He wore his very best pair with a tuxedo when we got married :-).

I MUST have those boots. They look awesome on you!

Boots? I was too busy checking out your dress!

New to your blog and LOVE it! Love your style (J.Crew in particular - I’m a bit of a fanatic myself) - LOVE the cowboy boots. I must get some. First night I met my husband he was wearing awesome rugged cowboy boots (and he’s not a cowboy) and it was instant love!

Your boots are hawt. I wear mine all over town, especially with skirts.

I love those boots! You look hot!

Oooooh the boots. I want them. I NEED them. Mine look pathetic, I need these.
