entirely true, but exaggerated for comic effect
it’s not all cocktails and ballyhoo over here

Disclaimer: I stole my post title from an old post of Whoorl’s. But I’m not feeling too bad, since she’s taken over The Working Closet for me. Sort of comes out even, wouldn’t you say?

In my suitcase for BlogHer …

What I am wearing to BlogHer

3 dresses

2 pairs of capri pants

3 pairs of jeans

1 skirt

3 sweaters (two cardis, one v-neck)

1 silk shell

2 tee shirts

3 tank tops

1 jacket

1 trench coat

5 pairs of shoes

Who needs five pairs of shoes, you ask? Well, no one really. But there they are.

Lest you think my entire trip will be one big party, I’ll let you in on what I’ve been up to this week: we are proud to announce the launch of BlogHer’s BeautyHacks, a community beauty product and how-to site. It’s the answer to your product prayers. It is ALSO a site that YOU can participate in — join BlogHer and start posting your own hacks. I’ll be spending a lot of my week schmoozing and boozing to promote the site.

Okay maybe this will be one big party. Whatever. Go check out the site! You’ll love it.

I’d like to see the 275 different outfits you can make with this grouping, BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW YOU CAN!
Congratulations on BeautyHacks! What a great idea!

Why would you need a trench coat? Is it cold in San Fran? I remember it getting cool, but not cold. Eh, what do I know? I am currently living about 5 miles from the sun and have to run to the car before I melt.

…How many days are you packing for?

Where’s the turquoise and celadon?

Saw your post over there last night. Looks great!

Now seeing what you’re wearing I’m off to reevaluate my conference choices….

I’m still in denial that I will need a sweater, but I will bring my trench coat just in case.

Your list makes me feel better about the piles of clothes I have been packing…

As someone who’s currently looking outside my San Francisco office at the fog, I just want to say the trench coat is an important thing to pack! July is often one of the chillier months in SF, lots of fog and in the 50s or so. That said, it can also turn warm/hot as it did the other week - but you’re more likely to encounter chilly foggy weather.

Why both a trench coat and jacket? Can you make one do double duty? It would leave you with more space…maybe for souvenirs or another pair of shoes.

I’m in San Francisco right now — my office is across the street from the Giants stadium. Yes, you most certainly will need a jacket and the trench may come in handy as the fog was pretty thick this morning.

I went to SF in July once and had to borrow a fleece from the friend I was staying with! What did I know?–I was coming from Chicago, where it was 95 degrees when I left!

Anyhow, Susan, I was sad to see you gone over at Work It Mom. I’m sure you left everything in good hands, but still.

Report back! And, I can’t wait to check out the new site!

Everyone needs 5 pairs of shoes for a great weekend!

Well, it’s certainly fitting that I’ve taken over the column, given I own around half of the items in your photo. ;)

Just say YES to the trench coat! All of you! I live in San Francisco and I wore mine to walk to work this morning. IT WILL BE COLDER THAN YOU THINK.

a) My packing list is eerily similar, but you have a few items (trench coat) that I had not really considered. That being said, I live in a very cold country and can probably hack it, though the sea air factor is making me think yes trench coat.

b) OMG! I can’t believe that I am going to see you in the flesh in two days! We are so gonna make out. Maybe even a three way with Mosteller.

i’d also throw in a shawl or scarf or something b/c brr. it’s cold out here.

are you bringing another empty suitcase to fill up after you hit old navy and h&m? ;)

waaaah! i want to go…..

I just want to see photos of all these outfits!

I love to see that you have a consistency of color in the wardrobe you’ve chosen to take. I do the same thing when I travel and am glad to see that you do the same. Enjoy SF!

nice meeting you in the elevator! So everyone knows- the coral J. Crew jacket is adorable in person. Oh and I’m pretty impressed with myself- I packed 5 pairs of shoes and carried-on! (I just need to iron EVERYTHING)

See you around this weekend!

That pink jacket is pretty much the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. That is all.
