entirely true, but exaggerated for comic effect
grace in small things: thirty one

So today is my birthday (yay me!) which is really such a lovely thing, except for the part about how I was up most of the night with the kids. Charlie came in at 1:30 with a bloody nose; Henry woke up at 2:00 coughing and crying, and since I was certain he had croup, we turned on the shower and sat in the steamy bathroom for twenty minutes, all of which he spent complaining that I wasn’t helping him. And then we did that again at 4:00, complete with the complaining and crying, when he woke up still coughing. My pores look great but I am tired as hell and I still need a manicure.

Happy birthday to me! Or something like that.

1. True Blue Spa Just a Minute 60 Second Manicure Scrub. Smells like oranges!

2. Old Navy tank tops (two for $15.00 in store right now, and $5.00 for two or more online).

3. Rimmel eyeshadow quad in Smoky Noir. Under $5.00 at Target. Score!

4. Gal Pal Deoderant Remover Pads. Brilliant! (Thanks, Rita!)

5. Boots Original Beauty Formula Cuticle Oil. Because apparently I am never going to get out of this house to get a manicure.

Happy Birthday, Hot Stuff!

Happy, happy birthday, beautiful!

Happy happy day!

Happy, happy birthday!! I had a Sara Sara cupcake tonight in your honor — well, ok. I confess. I had one just because they are so fabulous. But we’ll pretend it was in your honor!!

I hope it was a happy one! My mother used to wake us up the day after our birthday with “Happy day after!” It was a nice way to start the let-down day…you know, the “I’m no longer the special one” let-down. I tell you all that so that I can say, “Happy day after, you’ll always be special!”

happy birthday!

surely on your birthday you get to have an afternoon nap?

Hope you had a very happy birthday!!

Happy Birthday a day late, Susan! I think I need that cuticle oil pronto. I’ve been planning to book a manicure for weeks–since I suffered greatly but ultimately successfully re-sleep-trained the baby. A reward, you know. But it hasn’t happened yet, and my cuticles are shot to hell.

One thing we do when my daughter gets croupy-y (croup-ish?) is wrap her in a blanket, open the freezer door and let her breathe in that really cold air. I’ve even draped a sheet over us and the fridge and pulled a chair right up to it and sat there for 10 minutes. It actually really really helps. My pediatrician, who is also my dad, suggested it. Sometimes we do the shower too but this works just as well, most times even better, and isn’t quite the ordeal.
Did that even make sense? I shouldn’t even be ON the computer yet this morning as I have not had coffee….

Happy Birthday! It’s my birthday too. My wish for you and me a year of life, love, happiness, and prosperity for both us and our family and friends. Cheers!

Happy (belated) Birthday!!! I’ll have to try that cuticle cream…mine look like crap…

Boots at Target? Oh, this is fabulous news for me! I’m moving back to the States next month, I can cross ’stock up on No. 7 & lipstick at Boots’ off my to-do list. It’s at Target! Brilliant!

(oh, & happy birthday!)
