It’s been over a hundred degrees here for the entire weekend; today Wade said, “It’s almost too hot for the pool.” Which tells you how bad it is.
Five things that are good on their own but even better when it’s too hot to move off the sofa.
1. The Last Mimzy. Super smart and kid appropriate and just exciting enough.
2. Popcorn and M&Ms. Charlie and I mix them together, but Wade and Henry eat them separately. The choice is yours.
3. Bliss chardonnay. My new favorite.
4. Boys with buzz cuts. I cannot stop rubbing their velveteen heads (which is really pissing at least one of them off).
5. These cute tanks from J.Crew. Ruffly! And cool! In every sense of the word.

I NEED that tank from J.Crew. Hopefully the factory store has one when I get to go back there next week.

LOVE those tanks!! Must go shop online right now… cause Lord only knows it’s too hot to leave the house. I live in OKC as well, and am totally feeling your pain. Today we were traveling back from a family reunion and as soon as we hit the city lines, my car temp registered at 107! HOLY MOLY!

I shaved my head when I was 16, and every. single. one. of my friends would walk up to me and attack my ‘velveteen head’ as you called it. This didn’t bother me most of the time, but people had a habit of walking up behind me and going after my head. Scariest feeling *ever.*
Those tank tops are awesome.

I rub the head too. He tolerates it for a little bit, then he starts to get annoyed and I get the “mama! stop it!”

Go read the original story by Lewis Padgett. It’s an amazing read. http://www.scribd.com/doc/43321/Mimsy-were-the-borogoves-Lewis-Padgett-

Those tops are great. I think they’d probably make my boobs look gigantic though. And I think I have serious issues with the shorts the model is wearing with them.

I live in OKC too, and saw you on the news tonite.. decided I should check out your website; especially after you mentioned how we as women /mothers are more apt to trust “one of us”, over a celebrity endorsement.
Loved the popcorn & M & M’s snack.. (at my house we say ‘emmy-em’s’..not sure why, my kids are late teen’s.. lol)
The story of Charlie and the corn on the cob.. reminded me of my own. I’m not sure what is appropriate to say, and what isn’t,(I’ve never commented on someone’s blog before), but at five years old, I was sitting on a five-yr. old’s “throne”, the first day of Kindergarten… after school. I bit into an Oreo cookie… and out popped my tooth. I still ate the cookie.
I can’t believe I can remember that..34 years after.
Thanks for reminding me of it!

Okay, so after viewing the ruffly shirts from J. Crew, I have a question about J. Crew (after perusing your closet set)…can someone reveal the secret to me about clothing from J. Crew and not paying the full price? I mean, maybe you do, but I’ve come to realize in my old age that those who I think pay full price are always like, “You paid full price!? You nut!” Is it sales combined with some kind of mysterious coupon combined with a factory store (who knew they had a factory store! Not I!). So ramble-y.
