entirely true, but exaggerated for comic effect
fifteen

Fifteen years ago today, Wade and I got married. We had our wedding in my parents backyard; most of the guests were family, plus a few close friends. My cousin Jill cried through the whole ceremony; my uncle John drove over my cousin Ryan’s foot, and Ryan locked the keys in the car. During the reception part of the day, Wade went back to the hotel and took a nap, and Jill and I made another cousin, Jake, drive us to the grocery for more beer. Jake had just gotten his driver’s license and we thought it was hilarious that we were making him take us to buy beer. I’m pretty sure he drank some of the beer, come to think of it.

It is also possible that I was wearing my wedding gown for the beer run part of the day. I’m not entirely sure after all these years.

We marked our fifteenth anniversary by taking the kids to Panera for dinner; they sat at another table and played 200 Questions (yes I know it’s supposed to be 20 Questions but if you’ve ever actually played that game with little kids, you know I’m right) while I told Wade a complicated story about a very stressful thing that has been hanging over my head and raising my blood pressure ever so slightly for the past month or so.

It was really romantic.

At the end of my long story about this very stressful thing, I said, “I feel better now,” and Wade said, “Okay but now I’m a little stressed.” Which pretty much encapsulates how and why our marriage works.

Tomorrow night the boys are sleeping over at my in-laws and Wade and I are going out for a swanky dinner. I have promised not to tell any stressful stories during dinner, and Wade has promised not to make me play 20 Questions. It should be the perfect date.

It made me happy to read this. (Well, except for that hanging-over-your-head stressful thing.) Congratulations.

Happy Anniversary! Have fun being all swanky! :o)

Happy Anniversary!

Hey, 15 years ago today _I_ got married too! We did our swanky celebration last month - tonight is the fantasy football draft.

Happy anniversary!

Have you made a reservation yet?

Also, if you do not order the chicken pastry thingy for an appetizer, I will disown you.

Congratulations to a lovely couple! Regardless of the unromantic aspects of your dinner tonight, I think it’s quite a representation and validation of your 15 years! Congrats again.

Happy Anniversary! Sharing stress is such a beautiful thing.

Beer run! Broken foot! Sounds like the perfect wedding. Congrats on your 15th!

I love this! One year on Mother’s Day my mom let my brother and I pick where we’d eat. 7 and 10 years old, we picked Taco Bell and that’s where we went. NO IDEA why she let that happen. At least Panera has soup in a bread bowl!

I love that you went for a beer run in your wedding dress…at least I hope you were wearing your wedding dress…that is what makes the story classic!!!
Happy Anniversay and Many More!!!

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Late Anniversary (from NYC!)

Congrats, Susan. It’s stories like this that make me want to be married again. :-)

Happy Anniversary!

Awwwww, happy anniversary!! I love Panera, I would probably not have been unhappy about an anniversary dinner there. Then again, I am easily pleased. :)

Happy Anniversary, Boss!

Happy Anniversary. My husband and I are celebrating our 10th today. Enjoy!

Happy, happy anniversary!

Happy anniversary, you crazy kids! Have fun on your date.
