cupcake Friday

DSC_0078

Twice in the last two weeks, we’ve had cupcakes from Sweete Memories bakery; they are the most delicious things ever. Sweete Memories makes a lovely range of flavors — strawberry and blueberry and carrot cake, German chocolate and red velvet and Boston Cream Pie, as well as old school chocolate (with white or chocolate frosting) and vanilla (also with white or chocolate frosting). The cupcakes are huge, and will easily serve two people.

Although I ate a German chocolate cupcake all by myself. So there’s that.

Rita and I picked up a dozen cupcakes for our Emmys party, as well as a dozen petit fours; the total bill was $50, which is pretty darn good for that many wee bits of delicious cake. The petit fours were also scrumptious, and came with beautiful flowers on them — in fact, when Charlie and I stopped in last weekend, there were OU and OSU petit fours as well as the flowers. Charlie thought that was super cool.

Wade and I try hard to support local businesses as much as we can (although we have nothing against big chains — hello, living room full of Potter Barn furniture!). Sweete Memories is my favorite local stop just now, because who doesn’t love a cupcake?

You tell me — who has the best cupcakes in Oklahoma City?

Cuppies and Joe…NW 23rd about Shartel,I think.
YUM YUM!

I thought Cuppies and Joe was really good also, until I placed a large order for a luncheon. However, when I arrived they told me they had not made two of the flavors that were requested AND they were rude to me about it. Those were two flavors requested by many of the guests. I was very disappointed. They offered no discount and I had to wait while they filled the rest of my order with flavors we didn’t want. Think I will be trying Sara Sara next and Green Goodies (think that is the new one on Western)

I can offer you the best cupcakes in Lancaster, UK

But not Oklahoma City. Sorry.

Red Velvet, YUM.

No clue about OKC, but my carpool has Cookie Fridays. We take turns out-doing each other with fancy cookies. “For the kids” of course. Ahem.

I remember Sweete Memories!!!! I lived in OKC for 11 years. I have been back in my home state of MN since 2001 but I do miss OKC! I loved living in OKC. Two of my daughters were born at Mercy Hospital and I lived off of MacArthur and Memorial. OHHHHH….the memories……

Mmmmm, cupcakes.

I don’t know of any shops, but I sure wish I did now!

No idea where to buy a good cupcake anywhere, let alone in Oklahoma City, but my god do those look good!

Cuppies and Joe is my fav. Green Goodies is yummy, but
they run on the small side. I love the story behind
Sara Sara…but sadly not their cupcakes. I’ll
have to try Sweet Memories next. My son loves
going to get cupcakes…but then never eats
his. Works out great for me ;)

Meimei says, “Mama, I want you to bake ALL these cupcakes for me. And I will eat them ALL up.” Just so’s you know! Many kisses to you,

–t’other Suse, who is happy that you have tasty cupcakes ^_^

I LOVE Cuppies and Joe. Love the cupcakes. Love the coffee. Love the atmosphere. And I’ve had nothing but excellent service from them.

1. Cuppies and Joes
2. Sweet memories (Convenient!)
3. Browns Bakery
4.
5. Sara Sara (really did not care for them)

Not a fan of Cuppies and Joe, nor a fan of Sara Sara at all. Sweet Memories is AWESOME (loved it forever!), I originally went there for my wedding cake, but then discovered Ruths Sweet Justice….I don’t know about cupcakes specifically there, but looooove their petit fours. Love it. And their cakes are both adorable and delish.

I didn’t care for Sara Sara either…too chewy-ish. But I thought the “milk bar” machine was pretty cool! For a great sugar cookie, Johnnie’s on South Western, just north of SW 89th is awesome!

There are no bad cupcakes. I love all the places mentioned (although I haven’t yet been to Green Goodies. More info, please). I will also advise that you check out Sweet Cherry (or something like that) bakery on Rockwell and NW Expressway. They have a RIDICULOUS chocolate sheet cake cupcake.

We don’t live in Oklahoma, we live in New Jersey and my husband commutes to Manhattan. He brings us cupcakes from the Magnolia Bakery that are unbelievable. I never tasted such amazing buttercream icing. I’ll bet that’s what Sweete Memories is like.

I love the breakfast cupcake (who knew such goodness existed — egg, bacon, cheese and CUPCAKE!) at Sara Sara. I’ve been to Cuppie and Joes’, too, but probably like Sara Sara better. I’ve never heard to Sweete Memories .. I’ll have to try it. Where is it?

I love Sara Sara’s Key Lime cupcake. Have you tried any at Brown’s Bakery? I have not…but I love everything else they make, so I’m sure they are good as well!

No. $50 for a dozen cupcakes and petits four is insane. I am happy for you that you have the money to do that. Sad for me, but happy for you.

Have you ever noticed how much you drop prices and brand names? I don’t fault you for it, just wonder if that’s the game of your blog.

Susan says: Amanda, $53.00 (which was the actual total) divided by 48 (one dozen cupcakes, one dozen petit fours) is $1.10 per cupcake/petit four. That seems like a pretty good deal, especially since the cupcakes and petit fours were both beautiful and delicious.

And my “game,” as you put it, is to write about things that are interesting to me. Like cupcakes! From a fantastic local bakery that deserves the credit. The end.

Wow, Amanda

I would just like to fast forward my wedding planning to the part where we get to taste cake. Also, wine.

Cuppies and Joe…Cuppie and Joe….You Must GO!

Usually I do not post on blogs, but I would like to say that this article really forced me to do so! Thanks, really nice article.
