Christmas is coming — time to win something cute!

I love baby gear — not the big plastic stuff (ugh, no) but really beautiful, hand-crafted baby things, pieces that look like heirlooms but are made to withstand actual love and use. My kids are too big for baby toys, which is really sad to me because there are some stunning things out there for the wee ones.

Like pretty much everything at Little Alouette.

Ninja Wood Block Play and Pretend Set, $28

Little Alouette’s wooden toys are all hand-crafted, with love and care; everything can go in a kid’s mouth, which is great, but these toys can also go into your child’s hand, and help them learn about the world. The Ninja Blocks, above, can be balanced on each other, which is a great fine motor skills practice. Of course, they can also just be tossed around in a pretend karate battle — whatever floats your little one’s boat.

 Wee Square Wood Biter, $12

I cannot get over how beautiful these toys are, and how much they look like little pieces of art. Which they are, I suppose, just little kid-friendly pieces of art.

Wouldn’t you like to take home something from the Little Alouette store? Well, you can: Amy at Little Alouette wants to give one Friday Playdate reader a $40 gift certificate, to spend on something beautiful, for your child or someone else’s. The gift certificate also comes with a copy of Sleep is For the Weak, which means that if you win, you can be completely finished shopping for your sister-in-law!

(Or you can keep the whole prize for yourself. I won’t tell anyone.)

To enter, leave a comment on this entry telling me which of Little Alouette’s pieces is your favorite. Contest closes Thursday night at midnight EST; winner will be announced on Friday. Gift wrapping the prize is your responsibility.

Congratulations to Aisha! And thanks to everyone who entered, and to Amy at Little Alouette for making this giveaway possible.

I’ve love to win that - the square biter would be perfect for my colleague’s new babe!

My favorite is the one I purchased at blogher, the one that sits here by my computer and looks pretty while I wish for another baby to come to our family and gnaw on it. :)

And then I LOVE Fiona the fawn too…A LOT.

I’m a big fan and must win, can you tell?

Ooh, I want! I love her stuff and there is a tiny one coming any week now.

I love it all but My favorite is the organic teether key set. Absolutely adorable. Even if I don’t win I will definitely be doing some Christmas shopping here.

Oh, that Safari Set. I imagine my EJ would make up elaborate safari themed adventures and the turn right around and make each piece a different critter/ thing. Probably dogs. The kid literally vibrates when she sees dogs. Then she would sing to them. How lovely.

I have the The Handle Wooden Maple Waldorf Style Wood Rattle Teether. I got it for my daughter last Christmas and still think that it is lovely even though she doesn’t care about it anymore. I’d love to win to get my kids something to share that isn’t plastic or LOUD. :)

That Harper the Hippo organic natural rattle is too cute. It would be great to give that to the friend I’m throwing The World’s Biggest Baby Shower for. You know, since I’m spending all my money on the party and have nothing left for gifts.

I love the barnyard farm. Love it! My boys love TRACTORS! so that is right up their alley. What adorable things they have, thanks for sharing!

The farmyard! Animals you can play with AND eat? Is there anything better for the under-2 set?

I love the ninjas so much but I think the safari animal set might be the very perfect gift for a sweet little pumpkin celebrating her first Christmas this year. If I win I’ll buy them both!

definitely the 5 piece safari blocks. my niece would LOVE them.

tie between the oval teether and the star and moon. …tho i gotta say those ninjas are pretty darn cool. my boy has a thing for the moon and stars and he would fall over in happiness over the pair.
wahoo!

I really love the little barn with the white animals! So cute–I don’t know if I would give them to my niece, or if I’d be too tempted to hoard them till I have a little one of my own!!

Fiona the Fawn! FTW!

I love those ninjas! Especially because my husband calls our 9 month old a ninja.

I love the maple oval teether for now and the farm set for later. My 4 month old just started teething in the last couple weeks, so any of the teethers would get a lot of use.

I’m pregnant with my first and they should start a pool on what will be my first purchase. I’m partial to the teethers, but I keep changing my mind about which shape! I think today its the Fawn. Or the pears… No, the fawn. I think. See the problem here?

I love love love the barnyard set! I’m always on the lookout now for these types of things–my niece just hit the 6 month mark!

I love the fawn teethers.

I have a baby. And oh how cute is that barn yard set!! She would love this!

I’ve been eyeing the Ninja Wood Block Play and Pretend Set for a while now…would love to win it! Plus I want to read what you wrote in the book!

I heart those ninja blocks. Awesome.

The keys. I love the keys. When my daughter was a baby she had some haba toys, but the keys she played with were plastic and UGH. the plastic in the mouth and the braincells oh, how they melt.

The ninjas are also awesome. We play a lot of Kung! Fu! Panda! at our house. Poor dog.

Those twin pears are adorable!

Love the safari blocks!

What a wonderful site, thanks so much for introducing me to it, now I know where I will be buying baby presents from now on! I especially love the Safari Block Set.

OOH this would get me out of getting a shower gift really soon….

OOH this would get me out of getting a shower gift really soon….wooden keys FTW!

The Barnyard Farm is too cute!

I love the wee square wood biter, would buy something for my great-niece.

I love their Maple Oval Wood Handle teether because it looks like art and so very mid-century modern! For the distinguished baby who scorns plastic baby crap. I would gift this to my sweet 5 month old niece :)

I love the moon and star combo…so beautiful.

I’m charmed with many of the toys, but the Rhino and the Fish are especially adorable. I’m also smitten with the fawn. So much to love! :)

I love them all, but I’m particularly interested in the rattles. The hippo is adorable!

Thanks for this giveaway! I love so many of the toys listed in the store, especially the teethers - the fawn and the oval are my favourites……perfect for our first little one. (Coming in June - very excited!)

Thank you for the link. What beautiful toys! I would love any of the teethers. Thanks for the chance.

any of the teethers!!! Because my hand is not one!

The moon and star combo! How awesome!

The ninja looks awesome and creative play inducing!

Love the safari set! Thanks so much for turning me onto this awesome etsy store. My baby is at the perfecgt stage for these!

Love the alphabet teether/rattle. What a great new baby gift!

The safari animal set is adorable!

I’d probably have to get the fawn teether - one of my gf’s babes just started with the teething and I’d stash one away for our’s due in April

The ninjas are cool, but my daughter would love the barnyard farm animal set. She’s fascinated by “Old McDonald Had a Farm” and loves to hear all the animal sounds.

I love the barnyard set. I will have a new great neice in a few weeks and she will need these beautiful toys.

I love the personalized alphabet letter rattle / teether. My 2.5 month old has just started grabbing things - and of course everything in the hand goes directly in his mouth! Would love to give him a cool custom teether.

The square teether would be PERFECT for my nearly seven-month old baby. It would be an excellent replacement for my purse straps, my shoes and our coffee table.

I like the ninja blocks and I like the key set with the hemp twine. Both are adorable for their own reasons. I would love to win!

The barnyard set…I’m buying for my sister’s grandchildren now, since my only grandchild is 9, and there are no new little ones on our side of the family.

the trees and hippo are fabulous but my favorites, hands down, are the teethers! my new baby neice absolutely nEEds one! :)

I love the Harpo the Hippo Rattle! Too sweet! Hayden would love it! :)

Oh, I love their things. The star and moon combo and Fiona the fawn are my favorites. Thanks for the chance. Beautiful toys.

What a lovely site! I love the organic rattle and the wee kiss cherry building blocks.

I’d have to go with the wee kiss cherry building blocks - my kids have always loved wooden blocks.

I love the organic rattle and the wood fawn. So sweet.

The Hippo rattle would have to be my fave..my little one would adore it!

I love the Fiona teether!! So adorable!

The barnyard Farm set is my favorite!

Love the ninjas! My Lulu would love it, too. :)

The pear shaped teethers are too cute…I would get those for my baby niece!

The Barnyard Farm play set is adorable!

Fiona the Fawn wood teether - too cute and functional as well.

The Barnyard Farm is really cute, but my boys would probably get the most use out of the wooden block set. Nothing goes further than some great blocks!!

my daughter (who is 15 btw!) would go bananas over the giraffe — not to teethe on, of course, but to decorate her room!

:-)

i love the barnyard animals & the keys!

I love the cherry blocks, also the sun and moon combo! :)

i loove the ninjas!

Pear rattles - one for my little munchkin and one for my nephew arriving in February.

I love the teethers and my niece is at the perfect age to need one. The pears just barely beat out the giraffe in cuteness!

I have a thing for stars, so I would like the Moon and Star teether set. I think my 4 month old daughter would like it too.

Thanks!

The set of “Five lovely pieces” is to die for. Plus, the baby won’t know if I’ve stolen one or two, since he can’t count!

ooh, I love everything, but if I had to pick just one, it would be the pear teething rings.

however, I’m plotting to buy some of those trees, which will delight the boys in providing a forest for their many epic adventures. something to hide behind, for good guys and bad guys alike.
