s’wonderful (THIRTY wonderful, to be exact)

I went to college in a tiny little town in the middle of nowhere. We were so far from the Big City that we had our own volunteer fire department, to respond to emergencies, because it would take too long for the Big City firefighters to get to us. Some of the volunteers were guys who went to school with us, and I can remember them dragging into class in the morning after being up all night responding to calls. I had a lot of respect for those guys, honestly. They were a little bit crazy, but they were good people, and they took good care of our little college town.

And they were volunteers, you all.  Which is a whole other kind of good people.

So how can you thank those crazy guys who come when you call 911? Eat ice cream! Today is Baskin Robbins 31 Scoop Night; from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm, every scoop of ice cream is 31 cents, in honor of firefighters. And, as if that weren’t enough, there’s this: BR is making a $10,000.00 donation to the National Volunteer Firefighter Council’s Junior Firefighter Program. But there’s more! Local firefighters will be stopping by Baskin Robbins to collect donations and scoop ice cream.

Cheap ice cream, hot firefighters, and a good cause. What more could you ask for?

(Seriously, firefighters! And ice cream! I love you Baskin Robbins.)
